No Trouble At All Lisa Acerbo Stuart D Leslie 9781943504008 Books Reviews

Lisa Acerbo’s No Trouble at all, is marvelous adventure. I loved the way the story wove together modern sensibilities and old legends. The description and place came through clearly - transporting me to the rolling hills of Connecticut. I often read to specifically immerse myself in a particular place and a particular history and enjoyed the experience with No Trouble At All. If you love handsome, beguiling men and resources heroines, look no farther.
I was drawn to this by the interesting outline. There is a good story here, but unfortunately the author has buried the murder mystery in weak romance while failing to address *how* the murder was solved. Not to mention revealing the killer at the halfway mark, which removed any further mystery.
The quality of the writing is average, with enough minor bloopers to be irritating. Characterization is uneven good in places, but characters sometimes behave in irrational ways. Yes, people do that, but there should be some cause for it. Jackson is a standard contemporary romance hero, pretty with an air of tough, but he's really dumb. Sophie is more interesting, but very frustrating at times.
The pace was good, and some suspense remained in the details of the outcome. The ending will satisfy many, with every single little loose end neatly tied up.

I received a free copy of this book for an honest and objective review through a non-reciprocal review programme.
No trouble at all by Acerbo.
This story is full of trouble, even dangerous and life threatening. The main protagonist, Sophie, finds the body of a young girl while checking out the historical Leather Man cave.
This is the start of her troubles plus the beginning of a relationship with a forensic detective on the case, Jackson Lynch.
Because a past relationship ended badly, Sophie has trouble accepting Jackson's ministrations. And things deteriorate when he asks for time-out after they were sprung by the press, having a weekend away together. Sophie is devastated and goes into melt-down. Her best friend, Anna, comes to the rescue.
Events transpire, like a break-in to her place, and she has to contact Lynch. Their relationship improves but they are no nearer to finding the murderer. Then they figure it out and nearly end up being murdered themselves.
Plenty of drama and conflict but easy to read.
Ghost from the past, murder, heightening tension and a romantic possibility—everything comes together in No Trouble At All. Surely, all of that sounds like trouble. It is a nightmarish situation for Sophie when she finds a dead body in the woods and realizes that the murderer is probably a leather clad vagabond who is something of a legend in the locality. Her interest in local history results in her knowing a little too much about this terrorizing leather-clad demon. She gets involved in the investigation and plays along because she is attracted to the ‘distracting sexy detective’ in charge of this case. Her presence opens a can of worms and she nearly becomes a suspect. Wondering how things turn out for Sophie? Well, grab a copy! It’s definitely worth it.
My reading list always has all kinds of creepy and suspenseful books. But when it comes to clubbing together so much variety, this one takes the cake! No Trouble At All, though broadly categorized as a romantic suspense, has suspense, horror, history, humor, romance, and well, you name it. I was entertained throughout. While some parts in the story will give you chills, some will make you smile. It will hold your attention pretty easily and you’ll be left with a sense of satisfaction when you finally put it down. Lisa Acerbo has done a great job! This makes for an awesome and memorable read! You have to check it out if you’re a suspense fan!
Romance, intrigue, local history, corporate secrets... this book has all of that, and more. No Trouble At All details the story of a man who has identified with a Connecticut legend The Old Leatherman. The man kills and arranges the body of a young woman in a cave once used by the Leatherman for shelter. Sophie Carter, out for a run to explore the Old Leatherman's cave, discovers the body and her very tightly woven world begins to unravel.

I really identified with the character of Sophie. I've been in relationships that have ended badly and which have left me unwilling to take another chance at love. Sophie has just come out of such a relationship when she meets the detective in charge of the "Leatherman Murder". I also really enjoyed the exploration of the legend and would love to read this author's more fully explored version of the tale. As a frequent reader of mysteries, I also appreciated the reveal not being someone whom you couldn't later go back and see that there were clues there the whole time.

There were a few typographical errors in the book, but not enough to completely detract from my enjoyment of the story. There are sex scenes but they are not frequent, nor are they terribly explicit, so mature readers 17+ would likely enjoy the novel. I look forward to another outing with this author very soon.
